Dr. Ying Liu, MD MPH

Dr. Liu is a medical oncologist in the Gynecologic Medical Oncology service at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in New York City, where she also serves as the Lead of the Inherited GYN Cancer Program as part of the Clinical Genetics Service. She is also an assistant professor at Weill Cornell Medical College.

She received her Bachelor of Science degree with distinction in Biochemistry from UNC-Chapel Hill with a Morehead-Cain Scholarship. She then went on to obtain her MD from Duke University, where she was inducted into the AOA honor society. She simultaneously received her MPH from UNC-Chapel Hill via a joint program. She completed internal medicine residency at Columbia University Medical Center where she was selected to serve an additional chief residency year. She then completed medical oncology fellowship at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center and joined the faculty.

She specializes in caring for women with gynecological (GYN) cancers including ovarian, uterine (endometrial), cervical, and other rare GYN cancers and provides counseling and genetic testing for patients with all different types of cancers. Her research focuses on understanding the genetic drivers of cancer and leveraging our knowledge to develop better targeted therapies and overcome drug resistance. She leads several novel clinical trials in GYN cancers and serves as Study Chair for NRG-GY036, a pragmatic trial of PARP inhibitor de-escalation in ovarian cancer. She also has a special interest in health disparities and improving access to genetic testing and cancer care for patients of diverse backgrounds.
