Dr Seamus O’Reilly

Prof Seamus O’Reilly BSc MB BCh BAO MD PhD FRCPI- is Consultant Medical Oncologist at Cork-Mercy and South Infirmary Victoria University Hospitals, Hon Associate Professor at University College Cork and the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland, and Clinical Lead at Cancer Trials Ireland.

He graduated in Science (Pharmacology) and Medicine at the University of Galway and completed medical oncology training at John Hopkins Hospital, Baltimore, MD where he was subsequently Assistant Professor in Medical Oncology. During fellowship training there he completed a PhD in Clinical Investigation which focused on Cancer Pharmacology.

He a founding trustee and former Chairperson Cork ARC Cancer Support House, founded two clinical trial units in Ireland, and was National Specialty Director in Medical Oncology at the Royal College of Physicians from 2013-2021. In 2022 he established the National Green Cancer Clinical Trials Initiative. He is a member of the Executive Board of the Breast International Group (2021-9), The MRC_NIHR_TMRP Greener Trials Working Group, the National Clinical Trials Oversight Group, the European Society of Medical Oncology Climate Change Task Force, National Research Ethics Committee and is Deputy Editor of BJC Reports.
