Dr Deirdre O’Mahony

Deirdre graduated from University College Cork in 1995. After completing specialty training in Medical Oncology in Ireland, in addition to a MSc in Molecular Medicine from Trinity College Dublin, she then moved to the United States. There, she completed a post graduate fellowship in the world-renowned US National Cancer Institute in Bethesda, Maryland. She continued as a Consultant, continuing her research into viral associated malignancies.

Since 2008, she has served Irish patients in St James’ Hospital, Dublin, Cork University hospital, University Hospital Kerry and more recently at the Bon Secours Cork Cancer Centre. Her specialty interests in breast, lymphoma, sarcoma, melanoma and quality care delivery.

She is immediate Past-president of Irish Society of Medical Oncology; Immediate past Chair of the ASCO International Quality Steering Group, Member of the ASCO OMH Standards Committee, and Member of the ASCO Joint Certifications Committee and Immediate past chair of the Lymphoma Forum of Ireland. She co-founded the Irish Sarcoma Group and advocates for streamlining of sarcoma services in Ireland. She has been active in clinical, academic and research programs.
