Dr David McMahon

Dr. David McMahon is a Medical Oncologist and Cancer Geneticist.
In recent years, David has completed three fellowships in thoracic oncology, renal/melanoma and cancer genetics at the Royal Marsden hospital.

David’s research activity includes many publications in the areas of liquid biopsy, thoracic oncology, melanoma, CNS malignancies and brain metastases.

He has worked to advance the use of liquid biopsy in the UK, coordinating the North Thames Genomic Tumour Advisory Board (GTAB – or molecular tumour board), and in 2026 wrote the UK’s national education programme for liquid biopsy, ‘Genomics in a drop – clinical applications of liquid biopsy in the NHS’, soon to be hosted at https://www.genomicseducation.hee.nhs.uk/.

He serves as a member of the ESMO Magnitude of Clinical Benefit Scale (MCBS) Working Group and has recently accepted a consultant post with Galway University Hospitals.
