Dr Rosie O’Shea

Dr. Rosie O Shea is the Principal Genetic Counsellor at the cancer genetic service at St James Hospital and Adjunct Assistant Professor at Trinity College Dublin. Her research focusses on innovative health solutions and translation of genomic testing into the routine care of cancer patients. She completed her training as a Genetic counsellor in Cardiff University in Wales and her PhD studies at the University of Sydney in Australia and is now a research affiliate and part of the clinical academic leadership team collaborating on genomic translation research partnerships.

She is a member of the National Society of Genetic Counsellors Global Genetic Counsellors PhD mentoring group in the USA and the European Board of Genetic counsellors. In Ireland, Rosie is a member of the Hereditary Cancer Steering Group as part of the National Cancer Control Programme and of the Public and Patient Involvement committee as part of the implementation phase of the Irish genomics strategy.

She is the first genetic counsellor in Ireland to be awarded the Irish Cancer Society Allied Health award and is researching digital health solutions to improve access to genetic testing and counselling.
