Dr Abdul Farooq

Dr Abdul R Farooq completed his medical degree at the Aga Khan University Medical College in Karachi, Pakistan, and subsequently completed his postgraduate training in general internal medicine and medical oncology under the Royal College of Physicians of Ireland.

Dr Farooq has gone on to complete a 2-year GI oncology fellowship at the Princess Margaret Cancer Centre in Toronto between 2022 and 2024, with a focus on gastroesophageal and HPB malignancies. Dr Farooq was a part of several research projects and won the ASCO Conquer Cancer Merit Award in 2023, as well as the Hold em for Life Oncology Fellowship award in 2022. He has had presentations at national and international meetings as well as multiple publications in peer- reviewed journals.

Dr Farooq has an interest in treating gastroesophageal and HPB malignancies. He has recently started a new role as an attending medical oncologist at the Nova Scotia Cancer Centre and assistant professor with the Department of Medicine at Dalhousie University, Halifax, Nova Scotia.
